New Team!

United manager Roy Walker has been true to his word, being active in the transfer market, making a further three signings, bringing the total of new faces at Showgrounds up to seven. The latest recruits are Jordan Baker and Alan Teggart both from Portadown and the injury prone Aaron Black, from our close friends, the Coleraine scum. Black, Sky Blue Sport understands, has being signed on 'pay as you play' contract, because he was plagued with injuries over the last year. The competition for places in the starting line-up should be fierce and we are sure the existing members of the first team squad will feel pressure to perform instead the complacency which was evident last season.

Baker has been reputed to be the enigmatic striker, 'six-foot two, eyes of blue', United have long coveted. The saying goes 'many have tried, but few have been chosen', but Roy hopes to have got his man this time. This in turn will be put pressure on the Cutch as his stats making interested reading, a goal every 4 games, this ratio needs to improve if he is going remain the main striker. Defensive wise we feel Roy needs a one addition to his squad, a sweeper. It was obvious last season that there was no 'general' in our defence, organising things, some of the marking at corner kicks was juvenile to the extreme, we need that sorted.

We earnestly hope we have the keeper situation sorted, Roy says 'he was the best keeper in the first division' last season, we wonder we have heard that before? We hope he, or one of staff went to watch to confirm Kerr is comfortable with back-passes and not rooted to his line with those cross balls. We know he played a couple of games two seasons ago but we were going a through goalkeeping crisis and at the time Ryan Brown would look like the find of century. Omar says there have been many successful United keepers in that the past, the trouble starts when you ask to name them, we hope Aaron Kerr is the number one in the list when we ask him to name them two months into new season.
