New Hope!

As we, the Sky Blue faithful, welcome 2016 in, are we filled with hope or down in the doldrums of yet more terrible defensive clangers, culminating in yet more defeats. United's record in the season so far, make for uncomfortable reading, played 22 games, have 22 points and have conceded 48 goals, a despicable defensive record.

In fact our beloved Sky Blues are conceding on average over two goals a game, but our leader Spike, has no plans to break into the transfer market to plug his leaky defence. In his defence (pardon our untended pun), our Omar, was talking to a United official (not the main man) and was told that Spike, had approached several players, but couldn't tempt them with the wages he was offering.

He had approached Crues about a possible loan, but this was now not a possibility, so you see we will have to soldier on, not helped by our penchant for letting crosses come in to our box, like David Cushley, did on Boxing Day, at Coleraine. We know David is not defensively minded, but it is a team game and we all have to man the pumps when the floods come.

It is no secret that we need defenders, but more so than that, we need leaders on the pitch that are going to whip us up into a team to be reckoned with. This will not be an easy task, but if we want to get out of this mess, we have got to get to grips with basic defending and a strong base when we are attacking, not the slip-shod devil-may-care attitude we have at present.

JT, should be back tomorrow and Rodger, playing his last game should slot in beside him, the rest of the team we figure to be on the usual lines. Its going to hard game tomorrow, but we have got to start somewhere and might as well be at Portadown and our old fried Heth, will be there to help us out, if we need him, so come on Sky Blues, lets shag those apple pickers!
