Tonight sees the first real test for Tommy Wright’s new team, when the Sky Blues host Motherwell in the Nigel Boyd testimonial. Hopefully there will be a big crowd at the Showgrounds to show their appreciation for United’s long-serving left back, who still has a lot to offer United, but has already given his all for his home team. Tonight also sees the launch or is it the re-launch of United’s official web site, w.w.w.ballymenaunitedfc.com. This baby has in our humble opinion been too long in the womb, its birth has been promised on many occasions, but it’s taken an inordinate time to be born, let’s hope the wait has been worthwhile. We, Sky Blue Sport, the one and only non/stop United web site, would like to take this opportunity to wish Tommy and ‘his boys’, all the best for the new season. We would like to emphasis the sentence, ‘Tommy and his boys’ as only, Albert Watson (team Captain), Gareth Scates, Darren Fitzgerald and Dominic Melly remain from the Kenny Shiels first team panel. That means the nucleus of the squad are all Big Tam’s signings (we have deliberately refused to mention Rory Hamill here as we don’t regard him as a committed United player). Therefore as far as this season is concerned we reserve the right (pardon our pun), to be super/critical of United and their manager from now on, in short Tommy, the ‘honeymoon is over’!
