Haveron 't Got!

United go into tomorrow night's first-leg C.I.S. cup tie at home to Glentoran, without the services of team captain Gary Haveron. The big Larne man misses his first game this season after accumulating 20 penalty points, courtesy of five yellow cards. To the unfamilar it might seem that Gary was a typical hard hitting defender, but nothing could be further from the truth as there isn't a more honest and fair player in our league. Gary is the victim of his own style and commitment and referees tend not to make allowances for that these days. Also doubtful for the Sky Blues is top scorer and another ever present this season, Neal Teggart. The 'big' striker had to come off at halftime at Ballyskeagh on Saturday and is rated doubtful for tomorrow night's game. Archie Stewart is expected to get the nod in Haveron's place and if Teggart fails to make it, Mike Ward could make a rare start alongside Kelbie. With Tommy Burke returning to the panel manager Roy Walker will have to decide between him and Aiden Watson for the rightback slot and he may be tempted to bring in Mark Picking in wide midfield at the expense of Liam Mullan who failed to impress last Saturday. Hopefully United can give a good account of themselves in this game, so come on Sky Blues, lets shag those wise men from the east!
