Starting Over!
When United beat Portadown 2-1 at home on Saturday October 27, they began an unbeaten run which propelled them to fourth in the league, then it was a case of starting over. After our humiliating defeat to Linfield last week, mostly at our own hands it must be said, we are in need of yet another resurrection tomorrow when we visit Stangmore Park to play Dungannon Swifts. United's record against the Swifts on their own ground isn't too encouraging, in fact one could see a case for renaming the ground the Synagogue, as it's almost impossible to get anything out of it. But the Sky Blues will have to ignore all those negative thoughts tomorrow and go grind out a result. Hopefully United manager Tommy Wright will abandon any negative thoughts from his mind too and return to the 4,4,2, formation, which should see Davitt Walsh and Kevin Kelbie spearhead the United attack. United Captain Albert Watson, who signed an extension to his contract this week which will keep him at the Showgrounds until 2010, will we believe partner Dean Pooley at the centre of defence and the only back four position under threat would seem to be Swifts old boy Tommy Wray, who has not been delivering the goods of late. We also wonder if the United manager will restore 'live wire' Stephen Lowry to the number 7 shirt and Gary Haveron to left midfield, both of them have been badly missed over the last few weeks. Will the fit again Aiden Watson have to settle for a place on the bench, or will the manager give him the nod in place of Scatesy who hasn't been performing too well lately either. A rumour is abounding that Mike Ward may have recovered sufficiently to take his place on the bench which will give the United manager plenty of options. So it's all systems go for a new beginning, come on United, let's shag those Tyronians!
