Rowed Under!
United manager Tommy Wright refused to be drawn on the make-up of his team for tomorrow’s league encounter with his former club Limavady United. All Bruce Balmer was able to glean from the United boss tonight was that everybody was fit and he had the happy task of deciding who to omit from his starting panel. When asked if he hoped to lay the ‘bogey’ which his former charges appear to have over the Sky Blues, again he declined to comment except to a curt reply of ‘wait and see’. He also refused to comment on the continuing saga of United’s Irish cup replay with Linfield, instead he just shook his head and walked away. So all we can say for sure tomorrow, is that United will put out their strongest team and don’t be surprised if winger Mark Picking gets a start with Melaugh moving inside to partner Aiden Watson at the expense of Lee Patrick. Scatesy may also get the nod for a place on the bench, while young midfielder Stephen Lowery may miss out against his former club. One man the Sky Blues will have to keep a watchful eye on tomorrow is former player Austen Friel, who seems to have found his scoring touch since his return to his former club, after scoring only once in a Sky Blue Jersey. After the euphoria of last week’s draw at home to the cup-holders, or disappointment according to your point of view, United need to get back to winning league points in order to pull themselves up the table. A win tomorrow would in fact guarantee our league safety, which though never in real doubt, is a nice milestone to attain. So it’s all systems go for tomorrow, ‘Come on United, let’s shag those Roesiders’!
